Questions About Our Puppies
Q: What puppies do you currently have available?
A: All of our available puppies are listed on our website. We update all infomation and pictures on a regular basis.

Q: How large will the puppies be when they are full grown?
A: Our adult dogs are between 11 and 25 pounds, so the puppies should be in that range.

Q: Are your puppies registered?
A: Yes, all of our adult dogs and puppy litters are registered with the ACC (American Cockapoo Club) and NACR (North American Cockapoo Registry).

Q: Why is a registered puppy important?
A:Belonging to a registry insures that all of our Cockapoos are of registered Cocker Spaniel and Poodle descent. Registration helps prove that the dog does not have bloodlines from other breeds and that they have equal parts Cocker Spaniel and Poodle. You can access the ACC or NACR website to find out more information about Cockapoos and about the organizations.

Q: What are your prices?
A: Puppies are priced individually depending on size, color, gender and time of year they are born. Prices start at $500.

Q: Are the puppies vaccinated?
A: Our puppies are wormed every two weeks beginning when they are about three weeks old. They are given their first puppy shot when they are 6-7 weeks old. They need a series of three puppy shots, so you should contact your vet for more information.

Q: Do you ship your puppies? How much does it cost?
A: We will ship our puppies after they are 8 weeks old. Shipping is an additional $300. We do NOT sell or ship internationally. Please be aware that restrictions apply in extreme cold or hot weather and some airports do not accept pets.

Q: How do I make a deposit and/or pay for the puppy?

A: A deposit of $100 is required to reserve a puppy. Our preferred method of payment for deposits is PayPal. If you prefer to pay by check or money order, please contact us for instructions. Final payment is due two weeks before pick-up or delivery. If it is less than two weeks before delivery, payment must be made in full by PayPal, cash, or Western Union. Please note that an additional 3% is added when making FINAL PAYMENT by PayPal; it is not applied to the deposit.

Q: If I send a deposit, what does that guarantee?
A:  A deposit of $100 will hold your place on the waiting list and reserve a puppy.  Deposits will be taken in order received.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are a small family-run business located near Greenville, SC.

Q: Do you have more photos of the puppy I am interested in?
A: We try to take photos of our puppies every week, so if you are interested in a specific puppy, we will send additional photos to you by email.

Q: Where will my puppy be spending his or her first few weeks?
A: We keep our puppies in our house. They are raised with our other dogs and with our children; we give them lots of attention and start to "paper train" them at about 4 weeks of age. If the weather is warm enough, we let them play outside.

Q: Can I come to your house to see the puppies and the parents?
A: We homeschool our children, so it is not feasible to have visitors drop in at all hours of the day/evening. On occasion we allow people to come to our house by appointment, but as a general rule, we prefer to communicate by email and phone; however, we will provide weekly photos of your puppy. We do not allow visitors to handle puppies before they are six weeks old and have had their first shots.

Q: Would you be willing to keep my puppy past 8 weeks?
A: Yes, we will keep your puppy past 8 weeks for a charge of $70 per week, which includes wormings and vaccinations.

Q: What is your guarantee?
A: Please read our entire guarantee. Before a puppy is picked up, we require a copy of the contract to be signed by the Buyer and returned to Blue Ridge Cockapoos.

Q: What do you provide? What do I need to buy?
A: Please read our What We Provide on our Information Page which lists everything that is provided with your puppy, and recommendations for items you may want to purchase in addition to what we provide.

General Cockapoo Questions

Q: What exactly is a Cockapoo?
A: A true Cockapoo is an equal mix of Cocker Spaniel and Poodle.

Q: What is a "first generation" Cockapoo?
A: A "first generation" Cockapoo is one that has one Cocker Spaniel parent and one Poodle parent.

Q: What is a "second generation" Cockapoo?
A: A "second generation" Cockapoo is a dog with "first generation" Cockapoo parents.

Q: Do they require a lot of grooming?
A: You must keep your dog brushed on a regular basis or the fur may become matted. The coat varies from dog to dog, but brushing frequently will insure that your dog always looks well groomed. Regular trimming is a good idea.

Q: Do Cockapoos shed much?
A: Because they have poodle in their lineage, most Cockapoos have little-to-no shedding, but some do shed more than others. Most people with pet allergies are not bothered by Cockapoos, but if allergies may be a problem, you should try to expose yourself to a Cockapoo before you make the final decision to purchase one.

Q: What is their temperament?
A: Cockapoos are highly trainable with a keen intelligence. They are curious and eager to perform. They do well with one-person owners as well as families with young children. They are very people-oriented, outgoing and happy dogs. Cockapoos are a very loving and playful breed. The mix of Cocker Spaniel and Poodle has brought out the best of the two breeds. They are "people" dogs and don't like to be left alone for long periods of time. They do well in a country environment and also in an apartment, as long as they are given lots of attention. They LOVE people!

Q: Are Cockapoos good with children?
A: They do extremely well with children and have an easy-going personality. They want to be around people and are very affectionate and intelligent pets.

Q: Which makes a better pet - male or female?

A: There are benefits to both males and females. Choosing a boy or girl for your family depends entirely upon individual preferences.

For more information click here.

Q: Should their tails be docked?
A: The standard for Cockapoos is to either dock the tails or leave them in their natural state; both methods are totally acceptable. We choose NOT to dock the tails of our puppies because we believe it is totally unnecessary.

Q: What is your waiting list policy?
A: When your deposit is received, we will add you to our waiting list for the next litter that is due.  At that time, each person will be able to choose a puppy according to his/her order on the waiting list.

Q: If I am first on the waiting list, will I be the first to choose a puppy from the litter?
A:  As breeders, we reserve the right to choose a puppy first, should one prove to be desirable for future breeding stock.  You would have the first choice after that.

Q: If I am on the waiting list, MUST I choose a puppy from the next litter?
A:  If none of the puppies from our current litter are suitable for you, feel free to wait until the next litter comes along.  You will not lose your place on the waiting list. We will hold your deposit for a future litter for up to one year from the time we receive your deposit.
